मैंने तो छोड़ दिया था दुनिया को,
पर ये दोगली दुनिया मुझे जीने नहीं देती, मरने नहीं देती!
मैंने तो तोड़ दिया था सब रिश्तों को,
फिर भी ये रिश्तों की ज़ंजीर नहीं टूटती!
मैंने तो कर लिया था इरादा, बस अपने-आप में खोये रहने का,
फिर भी ये दोस्तों की महफ़िल छूटे नहीं छूटती!
मैं तो चला जा रहा था दूर कहीं,
पर ये बस्ती, ये गलियां, मुझसे दूर नहीं होती!
मैं नहीं चाहता थोपुं उनपे खुदको, जिन्हें हमारी चाहत नहीं,
फिर भी उनके चेहरे मेरे नज़रों से होते दूर नहीं!
मैंने तो मांगी है ज़िन्दगी से बस मौत,
मुझ बदनसीब को वो भी हासिल नहीं होती!
मैं जियूं तो लोग कहें नाकाबिल,
मैंने जो की ख़ुदकुशी तो दुनिया मुझे बुज़दिली का तमगा देगी!
मैंने तो छोड़ दिया था दुनिया को,
पर ये दोगली दुनिया मुझे जीने नहीं देती, मरने नहीं देती!

hmm..all the morose, depressed, sad moments are reflected in this one. ok here is something I quote from my own poem titled " WE have the power":
We alone have the power to rise,
Above all the hurt that was caused,
We alone have the tools to mend,
The complex algebraic life of ours,
We alone have the birds and the sun,
To kick away the gloomy weather forecast,
We alone have the “inner self”
To cheer up, for the friends who didn’t last,
We alone have the power to govern,
Our present, future, irrespective of the past,
We alone have the will and the strength,
To live and to be the way we want!!
